With fifty covers to her name, an international following and an ongoing relationship with editorial titles , Linda Jefferyes understands the subtlety and the power of makeup. She describes it as fun, fantasy and a perfect meeting point between fact and fiction.
Inspired by art history, pop culture and the ‘force and light’ of every individual face, Jefferyes art strikes the balance between flattery and transformation: “Beauty, unlike fashion, is a stable entity, because universally we are drawn to clarity, symmetry and certain magnetic glow. My job is always to restore the balance and polish personal features: a magnetic face is rarely a perfect one.”
Perhaps it was Jefferyes experience as a model that sharpened her view or the years she spent in London immersed in sub culture, fashion and the music industry. The sophistication in her craft combines a deft sense of proportion and the will to change. Working with celebrities is one of her special skills as is her close collaboration with photographers. Jefferyes is known for her creative innovation, refined production skills and the ability to forge subtle nuances in even the most famous faces:
“Every face has the potential to be iconic but control is the enemy of change. Modern makeup always involves a degree of trust, and you can only win that trust through experience.”
Drawn to the major productions, advertising campaigns and editorial shoots her (return) clients include David Jones, Country Road, Oroton, Zimmerman, Sheridan, Westfield, Bassike, Oxford Shop, Strand Arcade, Opera Australia, QVB, Forever New, Karen Walker, Elle & Harper’s Bazaar.
