Hair Diane Gorgievski

Diane Gorgievski’s rare skill dwells in her ability to find creative spontaneity and freedom within the notoriously demanding metier that is hair. Spearheading new looks for celebrity clients, forging fashion forward editorial, working with major brands and presiding over her own bespoke Bondi salon, her honed experience makes complex decisions look easy.

“It’s always been hair. Since the age of 15 every aspect of my training informs my work. You need to be intuitive. You need to collaborate, communicate, listen and really concentrate on the raw materials of beauty: the structure of a face, the subtlety of skin tone, the proportion of the clothes, all this inspires the story telling of a great shoot and the pure theatre of runway. My aesthetic is strongly focused on face shape. Hair is never something imposed on a look, instead it is has to be integral and engage all the senses.”

Gorgievski’s pivotal training assisting on the main teams of Luigi Murenu, Guido and Eugene Souleiman for the international shows informed her passion for colour and the importance of a total creative vision:

“The epitome of hairdressing is the fusion of discipline and freedom, that meeting of every intricate skill that allows hair to speak as the ultimate self expression.”

The confidence that comes from working with Gucci, Armani, Bonds, Sydney Dance Company, Tiffany & co. and a sea of iconic faces from Kendall Jenner to Jon Hamm, has generated an approach that is both professional and highly personalised as well as occasionally playful and energised:

“My approach is pretty relaxed, I like to envisage the form and then I like to pull it all apart. I love the word dishevelled and I love the word structure, I love polish and I love deconstruction. Colour is a passion and so is unpredictable change, the flair of wigs and fringes, sculptural form, volume and movement all play a role. I love the narrative of editorial and the drama of the collections as they are both arenas where I can stretch my creativity but I also love the intimacy of the salon. I am not a stylist who likes to delegate, I assume responsibility for every detail. In the right hands every aspiration is attainable.”
